Ten years after working in Akumal, Quintana Roo Mexico, I finally returned. To catch up with old feelings, friends and most importantly, with family. The first stop was my fathers place of work in the Sian K’aan Reserve, south of Tulum. Where you find stunning beaches, crocodiles in the lagoon and spectacular marine wildlife. From visiting this pristine and remote place, we made our way to Yucatan. Visiting the City of Valladolid, the ruins of Chichen Itza, crossing over to Mérida, Celestun’s Flamingos and Campeche’s old town. We stopped by at Oxkintok ruins and headed to my favourite Mayan ruin Calakmul, in the heart of the rainforest close to Guatemala. From there we made our way back to Tulum after visiting Bacalar and diving in Mahahual.
